Polumpung Melangkap View Camp Site

Indulging in nature is one of my favourite things. The captivating view of nature calm and sooth my souls.
Last weekend I got the chance to visit Polumpung Melangkap View Camp Site (PMVCS) in Kota Belud. This place is WAZE-able, so you can easily get the direction. It took around 1.5 hours to 2 hours to reach PMVCS from Kota Kinabalu. Kindly take note that the internet & telephone connectivity is very bad here. My internet & telephone line was disconnected upon arriving this place.

The road signboard. Make sure that you do not miss the signboard. It is near the residence area, I was a bit hesitated to enter at first. But do not worry, for it is the right place.

The entrance.
Entrance fee's list and available facilities for rental.

A signboard welcoming you this place.
This is the road entrance to the recreational area/camping sites. You can brought you car inside but be aware that the road is a bit steeper. Or you can choose to park your car near the residences area.

The resting area.
Benches and tents were provided as resting area. There is also BBQ place inside the camp. A few tents were made near the recreational area. You can also choose to rent the tents and build it near the riverside.

Rent a tent, like this one...if you wanted to stay near the riverside.

Signboards.

The riverside.

There were quiet a few granite stone near this place.

Supposedly we can see the mountainous view of Mount Kinabalu here but unfortunately it was too cloudy that day and the mountain was covered by heavy clouds.

Apparently, you can play with the water current whereby you will be provided by a buoy and let yourself be drifted by the strong water current. One person will be waiting at the end to catch you from drifted away by the river.

The view is stunning and mesmerizing isn't it...

However, there is one thing that I want to comment. I am sorry for saying this but the painted font on the stone has spoiled the natural view of this place. I understand that the management wanted to create more "attracting signature", but wouldn't the signboard is enough?

The painted stone.

Nice view but the painted stone has kinda 'vandalizing' the natural view?

Anyway, I can't deny the beauty of this place. It is a very nice place for water recreational activity. Just make sure that you watch over your kids, as the river has strong water current.

Thanks for reading.

Between the Martians and Venusian

Source: Google Image

Have you ever read a book written by Dr. John Gray? I bet some of you do. The infamous book entitled "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" is written by him. I've been reading Dr. Gray's book series on Mars and Venus, and throughout my reading I can see that Dr. John Gray stressed that Men and Women are different in terms of thought and perception in communication and problem solving. The analogies are:

One day long ago the Martians, looking through their telescopes, discovered the Venusians. Just glimpsing the Venusians awakened feelings they had never known. They fell in love and quickly invented space travel and flew to Venus.

The Venusians welcomed the Martians with open arms. They had intuitively known that this day would come. Their hearts opened wide to a love they had never felt before.

The love between the Venusians and Martians was magical. They delighted in being together, and sharing together. Though from different worlds, they revealed in their differences. They spent months learning about each other, exploring and appreciating their different needs, preferences  and behaviour patterns. For years they lived together in love and harmony.

Then they decided to fly to Earth. In the beginning everything was wonderful and beautiful. But the effects of Earth's atmosphere took hold, and one morning everyone woke up with a peculiar kind of amnesia: selective amnesia! Both the Martians and Venusians forgot that they were from different planets and were supposed to be different. In one morning everything they had learned about their differences was erased from their memory. And since that day men and women have been in conflict.
- Captured from  "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by Dr. John Gray.

So, can you imagine that Men and Women are from different planets? And that Men and Women suffered from amnesia, and have forgotten their differences?

Please do not be confused. That is just an analogy, seriously. A perception from a writer's view to get the readers have better understanding on differences between men and women.

But I do understand some people may be disagree towards the analogy. Plus, for me, I think this book merely tells the differences between Men and Women through races/cultures but not on other aspects. But as a reader, it is up to us how we accept and value the idea of the writer.

Positively, the book series provides good advise, examples and consultation in managing your relationship. By understanding the key point differences between men and women, it will helps couples to apply once complication arises between them.

Here's main key point captured from the book series:

Martians value power, competency, efficiency and achievement. They are always doing things to prove themselves and develop their power and skills. Their sense of self is defined through their ability to achieve results. They experience fulfillment primarily through success and accomplishment.

Venusians have different values. They value love, communication, beauty and relationships. They spend a lot of time supporting, helping and nurturing one another. Their sense of self is defined through their feelings and the quality of their relationships.. They experience fulfillment through sharing and relating.

Personally, I bet it might be difficult to adapt in real life situations as it takes both men and women to cope the problems faced in relationship.

Anyway, this book series is a good catch. Do spend a little time to read, thoroughly.....

Thanks for reading.

UMS Korea Carnival 2017

UMS Korea Carnival 2017 was held on 6th May 2017 at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Kota Kinabalu.

Photo courtesy: UMS Korea Carnival FB page

I accidentally found out about this event when I was scrolling the FB news. Frankly to inform that I'm not quiet a fan of Kpop or Kdrama (since I'm more into Japanese artsy & stuffs), so don't hate me hahaha...but I do adore the beauty and fashion sense of the Korean <3

This is my first time attending this event and I would say they have done quiet a good job for making it happen. From my observation, there were not many outsiders visiting the event. Visitors are mostly the uni students. There is a few vendors for booths i.e. Hanbok, Make-up, T-Shirts and Games Station. It took me only 10 minutes to looking around the exhibition but I've waited up to 1-hour just waiting to wear the Hanbok outifts hahaha...XD  Well, the Games stations seems fun but less people participated. Oh. And I think they also have the Runway and Music performance at the Grand Night session. Too bad I am unable to stay until the night session.

This is where the event took place. Visitors are mainly the students.

I would like to give around of applause to the organizer for their creativity in decorating the booths.

This is the Jeju Stone Park booth. They used the rock balancing as miniature to the rock formation sculpture in the said park. The autumn leaves is an additional point for decoration.

The Myeong-dong booth. Myeong-dong is one of Seoul's main shopping districts featuring mid-to-high priced retail stores and international brand outlets, as well as Korean cosmetics brands. It is particularly popular area for young people and tourists as a center for fashion and sightseeing. Yep. I've done my Google studies very well hahaha...

The Games station. I think there were at least 3-5 kind of games, open for public (with fee and prize of course)

Me wearing Hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) taking picture at the Canola flower field booth. It does looks similar to those in Jeju.

The real Canola flower field in Jeju, South Korea. Jeju Canola Flower Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Jeju, signaling the start of spring with fields upon fields of bright yellow flowers.

Hanbok booth. Reveling the history of Hanbok.

There were also food stalls that sells Korean famous streets food such as deokkbokki, bulgogi, kimbap, etc.

Lots of people buying the foods.

Souvenir hahaha XD

I hope this event will also be held next year. Personally, I wish to see the event's improvement particularly in marketing, activities and booth handling to attract public to this event.

Well, there is no loss in learning foreign cultures. Right?

Thanks for reading.
